LIGHT ER

Light Er is a series of images transforming the normality of ice and water into something ethereal in hopes of drawing viewer’s towards their almost other-worldly characteristics. Playing with different forms of transparency, the series explores the materialistic qualities and the interplay between different mediums in manipulating light. In essence, the series is more of a scientific interpretation of the everyday, magnifying the beauty of natural processes as though the photos were taken through a microscope. By isolating subjects, an illusion is created - each subject resembles large, strange objects that do not fit in with our perceptions of ice and water. Viewers are encouraged to examine the photographs in further detail to consider the inherent aesthetic qualities of an element that we do not notice.
